Seagrass Nursery Internship
We are looking for a passionate aspiring biologist/ecologist eager to explore the world of seagrass.
The internship starts from June and will take place mainly in Lauwersoog and Groningen. The main focus will be on the seagrass nursery, but there will also be opportunities to gain experience in fieldwork in the Wadden Sea or in the lakes of Zeeland, or to assist with other ongoing projects.
Responsibilities
During the internship, your tasks will include:
- Daily maintenance of the nursery.
- Monitoring plant growth and quality.
- Tracking ongoing and upcoming experiments.
- Supporting fieldwork activities.
- Optionally developing and carrying out your own research project.
Profile
What you bring:
- Is enthusiastic about seagrass and ecosystem Iestoration.
- is currently studying or has recently completed a degree in marine biology, ecology, plant sciences, agriculture, or a related field (HBO or university level).
- Has good English communication skills.
- Is practical-minded and not afraid to get their hands dirty.
- Driver license B and a bonus is the possibility to have an own motorized vehicle to get to the harbour of Lauwersoog.
Practical information
The internship lasts 6 months for 32 hours per week. The preferred schedule is Monday to Friday, with one day off in consultation. Alternative working schedules can be discussed if needed.
