Supporting the NIOZ in SIBES Intertidal Monitoring Project

After supporting the NIOZ with their SUBES project earlier this spring, our fieldworkers returned to the Wadden Sea this summer to support SIBES—the NIOZ’s long-running monitoring programme focused on benthic community composition on the intertidal mudflats of the Dutch Wadden Sea.

During the field campaigns, our fieldwork technicians supported sampling operations by applying their boating skills, experience navigating shallow and dynamic tidal environments, and familiarity with the sampling methods used within the project. This combination of practical expertise and field experience helps ensure that data collection can be carried out safely and efficiently under challenging conditions.

We are pleased to support this important long-term research, which provides essential insights into the health, structure, and dynamics of the Wadden Sea’s unique intertidal ecosystems.
