Looking for a Seagrass Nursery Intern from mid-May!
We are looking for a passionate aspiring biologist/ecologist eager to explore the world of seagrass.
The internship starts around May 11th (flexible) and will take place mainly in Lauwersoog and Groningen. The main focus will be on the seagrass nursery, but there will also be opportunities to gain experience in fieldwork in the Wadden Sea or in the lakes of Zeeland, or to assist with other ongoing projects.
Your tasks will include:
• Performing daily maintenance tasks in the nursery.
• Ensuring plant growth and quality.
• Monitoring ongoing and upcoming experiments.
• Supporting fieldwork.
• Optionally, developing and carrying out your own project if interested.
What you bring:
• Energy and passion for seagrass.
• Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a degree in marine biology, ecology, plant science, agriculture or a related field (University or HBO).
• Good English skills.
• No fear of mud—willingness to get your hands dirty and pitch in with tasks.
• Driver license B and a bonus is the possibility to have an own motorized vehicle to get to the harbour of Lauwersoog.
The internship lasts 6 months at 32 hours per week. Ideally, you would be available on Mondays and Fridays, with a day off in between, but this can be adjusted as needed.
We look forward to receiving your motivation letter. References may be requested if necessary. Please submit your application by the 1st of May 2026, to .
