Nu.nl and Trouw on seed-based restoration trial near Griend
27 March 2022
This March, NU.nl/ANP and Trouw reported on a large-scale seagrass seeding trial near Griend in the Dutch Wadden Sea. In collaboration with Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Rijkswaterstaat, The Fieldwork Company helped introduce 700,000 seagrass seeds into the seabed across an area of 3,200 m².
The seeds were applied in a mixture of sediment and seeds, with the aim of establishing new seagrass meadows. The article also provides background on the importance of seagrass for the Wadden Sea and the challenges involved in restoring this lost habitat.
